Jeffrey Hawkins

Ambassador Hawkins began his tenure at the American Library in the fall of 2017. A seasoned American diplomat, he has served as U.S. consul general in Lagos, Nigera and Lille, and most recently served as Ambassador to the Central African Republic. He has also served in Angola, India, Pakistan, Côte d’Ivoire, and Washington. In those roles he has overseen American libraries and cultural centers.
